    Custom media relations

    Have a great story to tell and want to get your news on radio, television, on web publications, and in newspapers and magazines?

    AccountantsCentral.com has great media contacts across Canada. Our President & Publisher, Jana Schilder, and our Editorial Director, Brian Kilgore, have been professional magazine and newspaper journalists, and have been doing media relations for decades.

    There is a flat fee for this premium service that must be paid in advance on a credit card. This premium service may involve writing a news release, or just email pitches to the right reporters, editors, and producers.

    Our media relations activities have a high batting average, but as with all media relations, the final decision on when and how a story runs rests with the media outlet. With media relations, there can be no guarantees. The only way to guarantee that your message will be published is to buy advertising.

    Media relations training

    Dozens of professionals, including financial professionals, lawyers, and C-level executives, have taken our media relations training.

    Within Greater Toronto, we offer full-day and half-day media training modules that include: how the media work; differences among TV, radio, print, web, and social media; a journalist’s typical day; how to think like a journalist; how to dress for TV and internet interviews; and useful phrases for TV.

    Full-day media training includes: several practice sessions with a HD-digital camera and HD playback monitor, with feedback; and a custom brainstorm session on topics that you are uniquely qualified to comment on.

    Media relations coaching

    An off-shoot of media relations training, coaching usually takes place close to the interview. We work with our clients to determine the combination of most newsworthy comments and topics of most benefit to the person being interviewed. We guide our clients in choosing understandable English rather than profession-based jargon.
